Doula Network and Maternal Health Services
Pregnancy and childbirth are profound journeys filled with physical, emotional, and mental changes. For some, it’s a time of connection and joy, but for others, it can feel isolating and overwhelming. At The Nest, our Doula Network and Maternal Health Services are here to provide unwavering support, advocacy, and care throughout this transformative time.
What Is a Doula?
A doula is a dedicated advocate for mothers, offering personalized emotional, physical, and educational support before, during, and after childbirth. Unlike family or friends, doulas have no competing obligations and focus entirely on the mother’s needs, ensuring she feels safe, heard, and empowered.

Doulas are essential for:
Helping mothers navigate their pregnancy journey with confidence.
Providing emotional and educational support to foster a positive birthing experience.
Advocating for mothers’ birth plans and priorities while respecting their values.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recognizes doulas as one of the most effective tools for improving childbirth outcomes. Continuous support from trained personnel, like doulas, is linked to shorter, unassisted vaginal births, reduced cesarean rates, and higher satisfaction with the birthing experience.
Services Offered by Our Doula Network
Before Birth
Before birth, our doulas meet with mothers early in their pregnancy to build trust and understanding, teaching relaxation and breathing techniques while providing education about the birthing process and potential procedures or complications. They work closely with mothers to create a personalized birth plan tailored to their priorities and values.
During Labor
During labor, our doulas offer constant support and comfort, using massage and touch to promote relaxation and rest, helping with positioning for comfort and labor progress, and ensuring proper hydration and nutrition. They also assist in capturing special moments through photography, creating lasting memories of the experience.
After Delivery
After delivery, doulas teach parents how to care for their newborn, including breastfeeding education, and provide support to partners and family members to create a nurturing environment. They monitor the mother’s comfort, ensuring she gets the rest, nutrition, and care she needs during the postpartum period.
Our Doula Network
The Nest’s Doula Network includes 9 trained doulas, certified by a Certified Nurse Midwife/Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner and an Associate Licensed Clinical Social Worker. This specialized training ensures mothers receive expert care tailored to their physical and emotional well-being.
By providing continuous, one-on-one care during labor and postpartum, our doulas help mothers achieve positive birthing experiences while fostering connections with their babies and families.
For more information or to connect with one of our experienced doulas, contact us at (509) 675-1447 or visit us in Colville, WA. Together, we can create a birth experience that leaves you feeling empowered and supported.
